Advanced Road Death Investigation
For those involved in leading serious collision investigations, training is essential. This important role demands knowledge, experience and professionalism.
Sancus Solutions’ five day training course is fully compliant with the ACPO Road Death Investigation Manual and draws on other relevant sources such as the Murder Investigation Manual and Practice Advice on Core Investigative Doctrine.
The course utilises a scenario based experience to allow SIOs to develop the techniques they will need to carry out this exacting role.
Advanced Road Death Investigation Course
The course will enable delegates to design, implement and record robust and effective strategies that are key to a professional investigation. Delegates will work through a scenario based exercise making and recording their own decisions. Delivered by an experienced homicide Senior Investigating Officer as well as a Road Policing SIO the presentations will equip delegates to utilise investigative techniques and strategies more traditionally put to use in murder inquiries.

Fully enjoyed the course both trainers were knowledgeable and very experienced. A lot of learning drawn from experience (Martin Bainbridge)
As a very new roads policing officer more ‘example material’ would have assisted me. Such as an example policy book, case studies at the start and inputs from AI/CI prior to the policy book exercise. All in all a very good course. Thank you. TG
A very enlightening/informative course delivered in a relaxed atmosphere. Great deal of information learned from other candidates on the course but ‘perhaps’ some of the less relevant ‘stories’ could have been limited!! Thoroughly enjoyed the week – thank you both very much. MV
As a new officer to this level/type of investigation I feel able and confident to execute my role. The course has given me a great start in my new role. TH
Scenarios very beneficial and sharing of other officers experience/cases helped. Refreshing case law very beneficial. AP

The course was balanced between information given and practical assessment. My personal expectation from the course was in relation to policy book content and procedure which the trainers took on board and geared the course to meeting. The experience and discussion within the group was invaluable. I have enjoyed the course and feel that it will give me the tools required. KG
Both Ian and David have provided an enjoyable, well paced course. The environment has been one of mutual learning from experience that the students and training staff have had during their careers. IM
Guest speakers good and useful, especially Mr Boyle. Transferrable skills, tips and experience. SW
Brilliant course. Both trainers had a wealth of experience that brought realism to the training. The guest speakers were also valuable to the experience. I would recommend this course to anyone seeking to become an SIO. Well done. MD

This has been a very worthwhile course which will assist me greatly in my role. The course content was relevant and delivered very well by the trainers and guest speakers. I would be keen to attend further Sancus Solutions courses relevant to my role as this has been one of the better external courses that I have attended. SL-A
I have appreciated the pace and input of the course and also found it very helpful with the group participation. Having only been in the department for 12 months and limited experience in the traffic environment, it was good to hear experiences and procedures from officers in other forces. I’m looking forward to putting this new found knowledge to use and has provided me with the confidence to do a good job. A good and enjoyable week in a friendly and good learning environment. (Anon)
