Authorising any surveillance application carries with it both responsibility and accountability. Authorising Officers can and often are called to tribunals to explain their actions. They need to be confident and comfortable with the law, case law and the Codes of Practice to ensure that what they have authorised is capable of standing up to in-depth scrutiny.
The training is delivered by experienced professionals who have both given evidence on countless occasions and also supported many witnesses through the process.
Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at those persons who carry out the role of Authorising Officers, Applicants and Gatekeepers.
What is the course about?
The course explains the law, case law and codes of practice, so that Authorising Officers are equipped to apply the correct tests when authorising directed surveillance.

Articles 6 & 8 EHCR;
The role of the Authorising Officer;

The role of Gatekeeper is pivotal to the success of these operations, in both reviewing an application and advising the Authorising Officer on the legality and necessity of the activities involved. Sancus Solutions RIPA Gatekeepers Training, aims to prepare people whose responsibility it is to act as Gatekeeper, helping to ensure a professional, ethical and effective operation.
