First Aid at Work Training

The HSE sets criteria that are important for you when selecting a First Aid Training provider.

Emergency First Aid at Work – 1 day course

 

Who should attend – This course is ideal for nominated first aiders at smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.

What you will learn – Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions; Communicable Disease Protection including barrier use; Primary Assessment; Rescue Breathing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management; Serious Bleeding Management; Shock Management; Spinal Injury Management; Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training; Injury Assessment; Illness Assessment; Bandaging; Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures; Minor cuts scrapes and bruises; Temperature related injuries

 


First Aid at Work – 3 day course

 

In the event of injury or sudden illness, failure to provide first aid could result in a casualty’s death. The employer should ensure that an employee who is injured or taken ill at work receives immediate attention.

Who should attend – Nominated workplace first aiders or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid.

What you will learn – The course will give you the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid emergency in the workplace. The course teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies.

Primary Care Skills taught in this course Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions; Communicable Disease Protection including barrier use; Primary Assessment; Rescue Breathing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management; Serious Bleeding Management; Shock Management; Spinal Injury Management; Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training

Participants are also taught how to deal with injuries and illnesses that are not immediately life-threatening.

Secondary Care Skills taught in this course Injury Assessment; Illness Assessment; Bandaging; Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures. Also included is the care required for specific injuries and illnesses – Minor cuts scrapes and bruises; Dental injury; Strains and sprains; Eye injuries; Electrical injury; Temperature related injuries; Burns; Hypothermia; Frostbite; Heat stroke and exhaustion; Heart attack; Stroke; Diabetic problems; Seizures; Allergic reactions; Poisoning; Crush injuries; Head injuries; Asthma.

 


First Aid at Work Requalification – 2 day course

 

Who should attend – This course is for people wishing to renew a valid first aid at work certificate.

What you will learn – The course aims to update and refresh your knowledge of the First aid at work syllabus, while allowing time for revision and practice sessions in preparation for a final assessment.

Course content The course includes an update of first aid knowledge and skills and a revision of workplace requirements.

 


First Aid at Work Annual Refresher – half day course

 

Who is the course for – The annual refresher course is not mandatory although the HSE strongly recommend that first aiders undertake annual refresher training. This course will help you to maintain your basic skills and keep you up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.

What you will learn – This course will provide you with the information to refresh and maintain your knowledge and skills in the following areas; Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions; Communicable Disease Protection including barrier use; Primary Assessment; Rescue Breathing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management; Serious Bleeding Management; Shock Management; Spinal Injury Management; Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.

 


Adult Basic Life Support – full day course

may be taken with Care for Children (discount available)

 

Who is the course for – The general public and those with a duty to respond

What you will learn – This course will teach you Basic Life Support and first aid for adults . It is designed to teach you how to deal with immediate life threatening situations, such as sudden cardiac arrest, choking and unconscious patients.  It may be taught as a stand alone course or in conjunction with Care for Children and first aid for children and infants.

 


Care for Children – full day course

may be taken with Adult Basic Life Support (discount available)

 

Who is the course for – Anyone who has contact with children in any capacity

What you will learn – This course will teach you Basic Life Support and first aid for children and infants. It may be taught as a stand alone course or in conjunction with Basic Life Support and first aid for adults.

This venue is modern, bright, warm and clean. It has free on site parking and with local bus and motorway network links close by. It makes a perfect venue for all our first aid training.
